Malt beverage is a fermented drink in which the main ingredient is the grain, or seed, of the barley plant. The cereals are primarily kept in water for germination; later they are dried, boiled and processed into dry powder. The malt is laden with B-vitamins, lots of minerals and some fiber and protein. Malt has around half sweet as normal sugar and generally used as a healthier alternative sweetener. Malt beverages are also rich in calcium and it has been found that adequate quantity of calcium intake protects against osteoporosis, colon cancer, and the kidney stone and also helps to control blood-lipid levels.
