Fluoropolymer Coatings Market: Industry Perspective, Comprehensive Analysis and Forecast, 2015 – 2021

Report Code: ZMR-272 | Report Format : | Status : Upcoming |

Abstract

Fluoropolymer coatings are the mixture of fluoropolymer lubricants and resin binders that offer features such as low coefficients of friction, excellent corrosion protection, and good chemical resistance. These coatings are based on tolerances, expected load, temperature, environment, and other significant factors. Various colors are available for aesthetics and recognition purposes. Fluoropolymer coatings also offer various advantages such as electrical resistivity, anti-galling properties, abrasion resistance, low surface tension, low friction coefficient, and low dielectric constant. Fluoropolymer coatings are used for the purpose of improving wet ability, foam reduction, anti-chipping, and for the purpose of UV protection of the coating material.

The global fluoropolymer coatings market is segmented on the basis of type of resins as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE), and others. Geographically, the global fluoropolymer coatings market is segmented as Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Latin America, and Rest of the World (RoW).

Owing to the chemical and physical properties, the fluoropolymers find their wide applications in chemical, electrical, electronic, construction, architectural, and automotive industries. Fluoropolymer coatings are widely used in aerospace for cabin interiors, structural elements, wheels, fan blades as well as automotive pistons, fuel pumps, gear boxes, in medical equipment such as bone prostheses and also used in food processing equipments. These wide applications are the major driving factors augmenting the global fluoropolymer coatings market. However, this also increases the utilization of fluoropolymers around the globe. For the identification of the ecological issues globally, fluoropolymers manufacturers have paced up their research and development with an aim to formulate an alternative that provides similar performance. This results in the development of new fluorochemicals and this development proves to be a factor boosting the growth of the global fluoropolymer coatings market. Hazardous effects on human body due to fluoropolymer breaking down into chemicals is one of the factors restraining the growth of the global fluoropolymer coatings market.

Asia Pacific is heading the global fluoropolymer coatings market. North America stands second owing to the demand for fluoropolymers followed by Europe. Rising demand in food processing and chemical processing in Asia Pacific regions, specifically in India, China, and Japan, has boosted the growth of the fluoropolymer coatings market.

Some of the players dominating the global fluoropolymer coatings market are AkzoNobel N.V., Daikin Industries Limited, Whitford Corporation, PPG Industries, BASF SE, The Valspar Corporation, E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company, and Beckers Group. Other players influencing the global market are Nippon Paint Holdings Co. Ltd., The Dow Chemical Co., Tiger Drylac U.S.A., Arkema S.A., Evonik Industries, and Rhodia S.A.
