Abstract

Emulsion polymers are basically used in the radical polymerization which starts with the emulsion process that comprises water, monomer, and surfactant. Widely practiced emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion. There are two types of emulsion polymers, namely, bio-based and synthetic—depending on their composition and depending on their polymerization process. The polymerization process is rapid due to high molecular weight. Waterborne emulsion polymers are environment-friendly.

These products are produced with the help of the many defined processes for emulsion polymerization.
